While i was having a Little Red Riding Hood reading binge i thought to myself, what this website needs is a fairy tale area where i list all the books related to fairy tales and folklore that i have on my Kindle.
So starting us off, it had to be

Little Red Riding Hood — Charles Perrault I believe this is the original printed one. It predates the Grimm’s version by a century or so.
Little Red Riding Hood — Brothers Grimm The one most people know, but not original by a long way.
The Path of Pins, the Path of Needles — KT Bryski A rather interesting spin off published in Lightspeed magazine.
The Girl in Red — Christina Henry Sadly this book falls well below the standard of Christina’s previous spin offs. I was left very disappointed.
Through Time and Space — Julia Crane A fun little spin off with Venusians playing all the usual protagonists.
In the Desert Like a Bone — Seanan McGuire Another spin off, which i haven’t got around to reading yet.

Mermaids, Selkies, Sirens and Other Mythical Sea Folk
The Little Mermaid — Hans Christian Anderson The original, and not a very nice view of mermaids.
The Fabulous Showman — Irving Wallace This is essential reading to really enjoy the next book, The Mermaid by Christina Henry.
The Mermaid — Christina Henry As always, superb story telling by Christina.
Sealskin — Su Bristow A wonderful retelling of an old folk tale.
The Adventures of Rustle and Eddy — Joseph R. Lallo A fairy gets kidnapped by a merman and goes on an undersea adventure. A super children’s story that’s also very suitable for adults who don’t take life too seriously.
Great Gerta and the Mermaid — Mari Ness A “Peter Pan and Neverland” tale.
What the Sea Wants — P. Djèlí Clark This one fits into the “Other Mythical Sea Folk” label. Rather short but really good modern fairy tale.
The Mermaid of Black Conch — Monique Roffey I only just bought this and haven’t got around to reading this yet, but it’s got great reviews and i’m certainly looking forward to reading it soon.
The Surface Breaks — Louise O’Neill A re-imagining of The Little Mermaid that i haven’t got around to reading yet. Hopefully it’s much, much better because, surely, it really can’t be any worse.
Skin of the Sea — Natasha Bowen Just got this, an African take on mermaids: this is one i’m looking forward to reading.

1500 Eternal Masterpieces Of Fairy Tales — Various Now this is a super bargain for anyone who enjoys a good fairy tale.
Gingerbread — Robert Dinsdale A modern folklore story with old school folklore roots. Well worth reading if you enjoy those dark, deep, forest tales.
The Woodcutter — Kate Danley A super pick and mix of lots of fairy tales in one story.
Faerie Tale — Raymond E. Feist As it says on the front cover: THIS IS NO BEDTIME STORY…
The Starlit Wood — Anthology An anthology full of fairy tale spin offs you may enjoy.
